Hamming Code for a message digest

Simulate a message digest live in your browser. This runs the real Hamming Code solver — adjust the inputs, watch it respond instantly, and export the result. No install, no account.

Corrupt a transmitted bit

Presets

no error

The Hamming(7,4) code adds three parity bits to four data bits so any single-bit error can be found and fixed. Each parity bit checks a different overlapping group; after transmission, recomputing them gives a syndrome whose binary value points straight at the corrupted position. Error-correcting codes like this protect RAM, deep-space links, and QR codes.

Governing equation

Reading this result: No bit was flipped, so all three parity checks pass and the syndrome is 0 — the receiver accepts the codeword unchanged.

About this simulation

The full Hamming Code tool models a message digest with the same numerics engineers and scientists use — running entirely client-side. Change any parameter and the result updates in real time, so you can build intuition, check a design, or teach the concept without spreadsheets or installs.

Frequently asked questions

How do I simulate a message digest?
Open this page and use the live Hamming Code tool below — set your inputs and the simulation runs instantly in your browser using real numerics. No install, no account needed.
Is it free?
Yes. The simulation runs free in your browser. A one-time unlock or a Pro plan adds advanced parameters, saved presets, data import, and clean exports.
Can I use my own numbers?
Absolutely — every input is adjustable, and with data import you can drive a message digest from your own measurements.
